The Starting Grounds

Sara grew up with traditional Persian herbalism, based in her grandmother's lineage. But it was a personal injury which introduced her to Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine, sparking her initial curiosity. This interest quickly evolved into a deeper engagement. She became captivated not only by the clinical results achieved through traditional medicine but also by the philosophical framework underpinning traditional medicine, particularly the Daoist perspective on balance, interconnection, and the relationship between the body, mind, emotions, and environment. Sara respects this traditional medicine as a comprehensive and sophisticated medical system developed over centuries through careful observation, reproducibility and clinical experience.
In 2016, while still working as a full-time postdoctoral researcher, she began her formal studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. As she delved deeper into her studies, her respect for this discipline grew.
Dual-Lens Approach to Health

Rather than viewing science and traditional medicine as opposing realms, Sara sees them as different lenses through which to observe the same human reality. Her scientific training sharpened her analytical thinking and enhanced her understanding of inflammation, chronic disease, immunity, and physiology. Traditional medicine, in turn, taught her to listen differently and to observe patterns, constitution, emotions, tension, vitality, and the subtle ways in which illness manifests throughout the whole person.
Today, her clinical practice is focused on integrating these two perspectives with compassion, precision, and care. Sara specializes in Chinese and Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, particularly employing gentle palpation-based methods and abdominal diagnosis (hara diagnosis). These approaches allow her treatments to respond dynamically to the body in real time, and she also offers lifestyle guidance.
Her treatments are calm, thorough, and highly personalized. Sara believes that effective medicine begins with careful listening, clinical skill, and genuine human connection.
